Hampstead Chamber Choir: Pizzetti and Vaughan Williams

Pizzetti’s Requiem Mass was composed in 1922 and is a work firmly steeped in the Gregorian tradition with Pizzetti weaving an intriguing twentieth-century web over the familiar tunes.  The Requiem Mass reaches the heights of Ildebrando Pizzetti’s choral music, a work of supreme beauty with displays of utter confidence in the genre. Hampstead Chamber Choir: Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms

A programme of  joyous, expressive, and spiritual music from the 19th and 20th centuries featuring Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms, Kodály’s Missa Brevis and Janáček’s Otčenáš. The Chichester Psalms, written in 1965 and sung in Hebrew, is a jazzy, thrilling, and beautifully melodic arrangement for chorus, organ, harp and percussion with a haunting solo for boy soprano.
