Join Hampstead Chamber Choir and Profs en Chœur from Paris, for an evening of French, English and American music. Amongst other beautiful music will be some of Copland’s Old American Songs, Poulenc’s Chansons Françaises, Vaughan Williams’ Three Shakespeare Songs, and Tavener’s Song for Athene. The two choirs will sing their own programmes and will combine to sing Stanford’s The Blue Bird and Saint-Saëns’ Calme des Nuits. Une soirée excitante!

Tickets £12, Concession £10, Under 16 free with an adult.

The vocal ensemble "Profs en C(h)oeur" was founded during the Parisian school choirs’ concert of 2008. The music teachers certainly enjoyed training their students to sing, but why not sing along and even next to them? Thus a thirty person choir composed of music education teachers performed on Radio-France in June 2008. Having enjoyed that experience and the joy of singing together, in October of that year they decided to form an association. Since then, recruitment has widened to other colleagues.

Profs en C(h)œur

With a roster of 25 choristers, the training was placed successively under the direction of two choral conductors, music teachers also: first from 2008 to 2011, Thibault Lam Quang and since 2011, Thibault Maille who has continued to build the ensemble’s skill, combining strong technique and musicianship.

“Profs en C(h)œur” regularly participates in events as part of the Academy of Paris, and acts as the choir school as part of the training of young teachers. The choir was asked by the research workshop of the National Conservatory of Music in Paris to participate in a program dedicated to Gabrieli, and regularly performs concerts in Paris and elsewhere. This is their first trip to London.
